Transition Wayland

I want to be a local activist and join Transition Wayland

About this Action

Pro-active, positive, empowering. Transition Wayland is neighbors helping neighbors build community and resilience to mitigate and adapt to the challenges of climate change, fossil fuel depletion and economic uncertainty.

Transition Wayland was founded in 2012 by a group of concerned Wayland residents. They make it a point to work together with other groups: the Wayland Energy and Climate Committee on Solarize in 2012, the Public Schools PTO Green Team on several Earth Day festivals, the Wayland Democrats and Boy Scouts on a Town-wide CleanUp, to name but a few. TW works closely with the public library, houses of worship, and the local press. As a result, TW is a strong group that is well-known and deeply networked.

They also hosted the successful campaign to ban single-use plastic bags and polystyrene food containers - offering their network, skills and tools like their website and signage, and volunteer manpower.

Spin-offs include the BEElieve beekeepers and bee friends group, Wayland Walks, and this very MassEnergize project!

Check out this dynamic group of people who don't like to sit around and wait for others to do it!
